Drop Hammers:

The use of 'Drop Hammers' in manufacturing parts has been in use since the dawn of the Industrial Age.

The process begins with the design of the part being laid up on a mold, transferred to the 'male and female dies' and then mounted to the drop hammer.

After the inserting a piece of sheet stock between the dies and highly skilled operators will adjust the 'hammer'

for the proper impact and timing to produce the part without cracking or thinning of the material.

Different metal alloys and thickness of material combined with the depth and size of the die will require a special drop speed and weight of impact. This is where the skill of the 'craftsman' will show through making the setup quick and with little waste.

Once a few drop hammer test articles have been produced, Quality Control checks the test articles for meeting specifications and full production can then proceed.

Repeatability, Each part will be exactly like the one before, and after, making all parts interchangeable, a necessary requirement for the modern assembly line and parts stocking systems.

Then parts can be stampeded out by the drop hammer as fast as the operators can load new flat stock.

During the production run all parts are inspected and pass our Quality Assurance.
The part is then packaged and shipped out to our customers with 100% assurance that the part is exactly what you ordered.

We have one of the largest drop hammer shops in existence. In fact, the largest drop hammer in the United States is located in our facility. We make our own plaster patterns and form the kirksite dies right here on our site.

As you look at metal parts on cars, airplanes and other products you can bet that if the metal part "isn't flat" it probably was formed with a Drop Hammer!

The bed size of our bigger hammers are: 60" x 48", 60" x 96" and 60" x 120". Using the large 5' by 10' bed we can make just about any sheet metal part, with a 'drop tonnages' of a staggering 500 Tons.
